Kentucky finds victory number 7 at "Home away from home" in Freedom Hall, Louisville Kentucky, against UNC Asheville. Kentucky jumped out to a lead as much as 44 on a 29-6 run. John Wall had another huge game tonight, as he just proves he really is the number 1 recruit in basketball.

"NBA, that's all I've got to say," teammate Patrick Patterson said. "John Wall is a pro player and he wants the ball in crunch-time situations. Whenever we need a basket or something on the offensive end, John is going to be the one to do it."

It was Kentucky all night tonight, UNC Asheville just couldn't find the touch.

Kentucky Can't Snap Streak To UT, Lose 30-24 in OT

The Tennessee Volunteers keep the streak alive squeaking out a TD in overtime to win 25 straight over Kentucky. Montario Hardesty had a huge night scoring the game winning 20-yard TD. He ran for a career-high 179 yards handing Lane Kiffin a victory over UK in his first year at Tennessee. Late in the 3rd Qtr, Tennessee would take the lead with a FG in the 3rd Qtr. In the 4th Qtr, Ashton Cobb forced a fumble and it was scooped up by Taylor Wyndham setting up Kentucky for a chance to tie or win the game. All they would salvage was a FG tying the game up and sending it into overtime. In OT, Lones Seiber missed a FG that would have given UK a 3 point lead. After the missed FG, Montario Hardesty scored the game winning TD. UK finishes tied for 4th in the SEC East to finish the season.

Kentucky defeats the Stanford Cardinals to claim the 2009 Cancun Challenge Championship in Overtime. It was a back and forth game, Stanford just wouldn't give up. Late the first half and almost the whole second half, Kentucky just could not get anything done offensively and they couldn't stop the offense on Stanford's side of the court. As predicted, Landry Fields had another huge game against the Cats having 23 points.

Kentucky Stuns Georgia 34-27

The Kentucky Wildcats go into Sanford Stadium and defeat the Georgia Bulldogs for the first time on the since 1977. The same year Rich Brooks lead his Oregon Ducks football team into Athens to hand the "Mighty Bulldogs" a loss. The game winning play was set up by a UGA's QB Joe Cox throwing an interception to UK's DT Shane McCord with 9:55 to go in the 4th Qtr. Randall Cobb would score the go-ahead TD after the interception. It looked as if UGA was going to tie the game up near the end zone with 2:21 left but a costly fumble for Georgia's running back Washaun Easley prevented that from happening. The play that sealed the deal was when Cox through an interception to UK LB Sam Maxwell with 1:52 left in the ball game. Morgan Newton threw for 137 yards and 3 TDs. Completed 9/17 passes. Derrick Locke carried the ball 16 times for 80 yards. Cobb had 40 rushing yards on 9 carries. Locke also had 2 receptions for 80 yards and scored 2 TDs. Nick Melillo had two receptions for 22 yards. Kentucky extends their record to 7-4 on the year and will end the season this Saturday at home vs the Tennessee Volunteers.

Kentucky Breaks Through With Huge Win Over Rider

Kentucky blasts Rider to day with a 92-63 win today in the opening round of the Cancun Challenge. UK held Rider to just 4 three-point baskets today (0 first half). John Wall and Patrick Patterson started off the game really well. Wall led the Cats with 21 points and getting a double-double for the first time this year. He had 11 assists as well. Patrick Patterson scored 19 points and grabbed 18 boards in the game. DeMarcus Cousins found himself in foul trouble early on and in his place was Daniel Orton who had a huge game with 14 points and 6 rebounds. Eric Bledsoe has emerged as a 3-point threat for the Cats going 3-6 from beyond the arc with all 3 coming in the 1st half. UK will advance to the 2nd round of the Cancun Challenge and will face Cleveland State Tuesday afternoon.

Kentucky Holds Off Sam Houston State 102-92

The Kentucky Wildcats got going tonight with a 102-92 victory over the Sam Houston State Bearkats. However, the defense of the Wildcats still has plenty of flaws in it as it seemed to be deja vu all over again Corey Allmond sparked the Bearkats offense with 37 points. He was 11-for-16 from behind the arc tonight and almost set a record for most 3-point baskets made by a team at Rupp Arena. UK's starting 5 played great games today. DeMarcus Cousins lead the Wildcats scoring 27 points. John Wall and Eric Bledsoe combined scored 40 points from UK's backcourt. Bledsoe had five three point baskets in tonight's game with 4 in the 2nd half. Jon Hood saw his first action for the Wildcats playing 8 minutes in his UK debut. Cousins got his 2nd double-double of the year with 27 points and 18 rebounds.

Tobias Harris To Make College Decision Tomorrow

Tobias Harris will announce his collegiate destination tomorrow live on ESPNU. Harris is considering UK, Lousville, Tennessee, Syracuse, Georgia Tech, West Virginia, and Maryland. He has no clear cut leader at this moment. With Tennessee receiving a commitment from Jayvaughn Pinkston, many would think he was going to commit to Syracuse. Not neccesarily the case, Harris stopped by the University of Tennessee for a visit on his way back from Georgia Tech. Other sources are stating that Kentucky, Louisville, and Tennesse all are ahead in a 3-way tie battling it out to try and get Harris. We'll find out for sure tomorrow. Don't forget to tune into ESPNU at 5:30 to see who Tobias Harris will ultimately choose as his college.

Miami Hits The "Wall" With UK Win 72-70

What looked scary in the first half (Miami going on a 19-2 run) Kentucky was able to pull it out in the end. In the first, Miami went up to as much as 33-18, but at halftime Kentucky was able to cut it to a 3 point lead at 39 - Miami, 36 - UK.

2nd half, Miami just wouldn't give up and stayed right up there shooting an amaing 15-26 in 3 point shooting. 70 all tie with 6 seconds to go off a Miami 3, John Wall to the rescue hits a jumper to make it 72-70 Kentucky, 0.5 seconds, Miami throws up a prayer which was short of the iron and that would do it.

The Wildcats become Bowl Eligible for the 4th consecutive year with their 24-13 defeat of the Vanderbilt Commodores. The Wildcats are currently looking at the Music City Bowl or the Liberty Bowl as possible Bowl Game destinations. However, if they were to pick up wins in the final two games vs Georgia or Tennessee, they could be going to the Chik-Fil-A Bowl. Randall Cobb had a great offensive day rushing for 2 TDs. Hartline and Newton Both To Play Saturday

Rich Brooks announced today that Mike Hartline and Morgan Newton will both see playing time this weekend as the Cats go on the road to take on Vanderbilt. Derrick Locke, Randall Cobb, and Trevard Lindley will all be ready to play this weekend. It will be the first time since UK's game vs Alabama that the Cats have been this healthy having all of their star players on the field.

“It’s fine,” Cobb said of the splint. “I can still catch the ball. It doesn’t bother me at all.”

Stacey Poole Officially Signs L.O.I. With UK

Stacey Poole signed his letter of intent to play for the Wildcats next season and officially becomes the first player on next year's team. Poole committed to UK back in September. He is a 4-star SF/SG out of Jacksonville, Florida. His father, Stacey Poole Sr. played college basketball at the University of Florida. He attends Providence School in Jacksonville and his AAU team is the Jacksonville Lee Bulls.

Top UK Basketball Prospects Leaning Towards Spring Signing Period

Evan Daniels of Scout Inc. Recruiting Service says he expects UK Basketball recruiting targets to lean towards the Spring Signing Period. He specifically names prospects such as Josh Selby, Doron Lamb, Brandon Knight, and C.J. Leslie. The most likely recruit of UK that they are targeting to sign anytime soon would be Tobias Harris who would like to sign before his high school basketball season starts. Multiple sources today are saying that Terrence Jones will likely sign in the late spring signing period. Stacey Poole is expected to sign his letter of intent as soon as tomorrow. He predicts that 19 of the top 100 prospects including 11 of the top 25 will be signing their letter of intent in the spring. That could be a good thing because Kentucky could show recruits what they're worth on the court this year and possibly bring home a NCAA Tournament Championship trophy to woo the recruits to choosing Lexington as their college destination.

Terrence Jones to Decide Tonight When He'll Commit

Terrence Jones is choosing which signing period he'll sign in whether it will be in the early signing period or wait until the spring to sign. He has completed all 5 of his official visits.His most recent visit was this weekend at UCLA in which his mother says the trip went well. Jones has visited Kentucky, UCLA, Oregon, Oklahoma, and Washington and all 5 seem to be equal with each on Terrence's list. His mother Linda said her son is about 50-50 on whether he will sign in the early or spring signing period. Terrence Jones is a 6'8 Power Forward out of Portland, Oregon and currently goes to school at Jefferson High School. He is a 5-star recruit and is the 3 rated PF according to rivals.com.

Morgan Newton Wins SEC Freshman of the Week Award

Kentucky Freshman QB Morgan Newton won the SEC Freshman of the Week award for going 20-29 with 187 yards and 2 TDs vs Eastern Kentucky. Newton also lead the team to 444 yards of offense despite not having Randall Cobb and Derrick Locke who combine for the vast majority of UK's offense. UK Linebacker Sam Maxwell earned honors as one of the “Other Outstanding Performances” for his three tackles and an interception. It will be interesting to see who gets the nod as starting QB Saturday if Mike Hartline his healthy enough to play or if Newton can continue to hold down the starting role and not put the "Morgan Newton Era" of UK Football on hold.

Daniel Orton X-rays Negative

Daniel Orton had x-rays taken on his chest after leaving yesterday's game in the first game. Larry Orton, Daniel's father says his son was apparently kicked in the shoulder during a loose ball scramble. "They said everything is going to be fine," Larry Orton said. "He was a week to get ready for the next game (against Morehead State) and he should be fine." Orton was able to return to the bench for the second half yesterday. Orton had just one rebound in four minutes of play vs Clarion.

Kentucky Wins Huge Despite Cobb and Locke, 37-12

Kentucky played a good game today without the two main sparks to their offense, Randall Cobb and Derricke Locke. Locke missed the game because of torn scar tissue in his surgically repaired left knee. Cobb sat out today with a sprained thumb and was seen most of the game wearing a cast. Cobb was dressed and cleared to play but Coach Brooks decided to hold him out to prevent further injury.

However, Morgan Newton played his best game of the season today. He was 20-for-29 passing today with 187 yards and threw his first two career touchdowns vs EKU. WRs Chris Matthews and LaRod King both had career days: Matthews had seven catches for 56 yards and a TD, and King had four receptions for 41 yards. The offense didn't turn the ball over and had only three penalties for 20 yards. The defense gave up just 264 yards today. Cartier Rice and Sam Maxwell each came away with a pick in today's game.

Calipari Changes Practices to 6:15 A.M.

Kentucky coach, John Calipari, has decided this Kentucky team neads drastic measures.

"We've got good kids and they're trying, but we're not where we need to be. I don't like what it looks like, and I could go down each player," Calipari said. "So we've got a little curfew going. We've got morning practices. And I'm back into an exercise killer so you know where mind is right now. They'll either catch up to it or be dragged through glass."

This is what Freshamn DeMarcus Cousins had to say on it...

"We knew it wasn't play time any more," DeMarcus Cousins said. "We've got the other Cal. Intense and focused. It's a whole new Cal. It ain't the laid-back, chilled Cal no more. We've got to get with the program now."

"You make sure you set that alarm clock and then we have the managers wake us up, too," Cousins said. "You oversleep, it's a real problem."

DeMarcus Cousins said he's never practiced that early in the morning, let alone see the outside world that early.

"I've gotten their attention," Calipari said. "Coming in, everything was positive and upbeat and hugging them. OK, now how do we get to the next level? I tried to be the same guy and get them to the next level and it didn't work. Now, they have the other guy with the hair growing on his back."

Jon Hood Adapting To Kentucky's "Weird" Offense

Jon Hood says he's trying to adapt to the "wierd" Dribble-Drive Offense.

"There is one team in the whole country that plays this way," freshman Jon Hood said. "It's just so weird."

Most of the players are used to High school and how they're supposed to react.

"Usually, you're supposed to stay 13 to 17 feet away. If somebody is driving your way, you run away from them," Hood said. "No, in this system you're running at the ball."

"I've been told not to do this for as long as I've played," Hood said. "The only time we ever ran at the ball was for a dribble handoff. This is not a dribble handoff, it's a dribble pitch or a dribble kick back."

Last year, the Golden Eagles went 16-12 overall... 9-5 at home, 7-6 away, and 9-7 in their confernce.

Now I think Kentucky should beat them by about 30+ points...With Bledsoe out, don't be excpecting a really high scoring game on the cat's side but with Wall in there, that will make up for Bledsoe's out. I'm thinking Kentucky will get about 80+ points in tonight's game.

Freshman Eric Bledsoe Likely to Miss 2nd Exhibition Game

Freshman Eric Bledose will probably miss the 2nd exhibition game VS. Clarion. Eric Bledsoe got a spranged ankle according to Calipari, at the first exhibition against Campbellsville.

Now Wall gets to play in this game, BUT Bledsoe will be out. I was looking foward to seeing the two together out on the court, because they'd really tear it up...but we'll just have to wait until the 2nd regular season game when Wall is cleared and can play.

Junior Patrick Patterson Named Preseason AP All-American

Patrick Patterson has added an honor to his growing preseason list, he is being named first team preseason All-America by the Associated Press.

Patterson becomes the first Kentucky Wildcat since Tayshaun Prince from the 2001-02 season to receive a preseason All-American status from the Associated Press.

He has a total of 1020 points entering his junior year, and was the only SEC player to be ranked in the top 5 in scoring and rebounding last season.

C.J. Leslie Chats with KSR's Dustin Rumbaugh

DR: First off, just tell me a little bit about what you did during your visit to UK?

CJ Leslie: When we got there I went to the Blue/White game and then went out to eat. We got to conversate a little bit and I got to hang out with John and Demarcus.

DR: I know that you were able to see the team scrimmage in the Blue/White game. Were you also able to see the team practice privately? If so, can you talk a little bit about how you might fit into that system?

CJ Leslie: Yeah I [was able to see the team practice]. It’s a very up-tempo game. They believe in running the ball a lot, as far as getting the ball out, pushing the ball. That’s kinda what I see myself doing. I think I would fit into that system great.

DR: At this point, how do you feel about UK’s pursuit of you? Do you feel that you are one of their top priorities or high on their list of big men?

CJ Leslie: Yeah, Coach Cal was up here today. I didn’t get the chance to talk to him but I heard he stopped by. [Word of God Christian Academy Coach Hatchett] told me he stopped by. So you know I’m definitely feeling the love.

DR: So from your end, where do you place UK right now?

CJ Leslie: They’re one of the top schools that I’m looking at.

DR: Is it still going to be a spring decision for you?

CJ Leslie: Really just whenever I feel like I’ve found the right school.

Josh Selby To Visit UK

Jerry Meyer of rivals.com reported on Friday that 5-star PG Josh Selby would take an official visit to Indiana on the 14th of November. Selby’s mother, Maeshon Witherspoon, confirmed that to the Herald-Times on Sunday.

Selby visited Kansas for their Midnight Madness "Late Night in the Phog" on October 16th. Selby's Mom said that trip went very well. Witherspoon said Selby will also be visiting Kentucky, Miami and Syracuse. Those visits will happen, after Selby’s high school team begins its season.

Witherspoon and her son says “We’re going to be looking at team chemistry and how the coach deals with his players." Selby attends Lake Clifton high school in Baltimore, Maryland. He decommitted from the Tennessee Volunteers on the 19th of July this year.

div>The Detroit Pistons announced that small forward Tayshaun Prince will miss tonight's game against the Orlando Magic because of a lower back strain. This puts an end to his consecutive-start streak of 439 games.

John Calipari on UK VS. C'Ville

Here's what Coach Cal had to say on the number of turnovers in the game...

"We had them of all kinds too. There was not real flow to the game until Krebs said let me show you how to turn this corner and play through a bump and make a play for somebody else. We had a lot of guys drive the balls with no intention to get to the rim. They were just driving to be a passer. Well no one gets open when you do that, you have to make plays, get in gaps, play through bumps, you have to do all those things. We still have a lot to figure out with this team and how we play to their strengths. We were trying to get Patrick the ball on a couple things and we got him in the post and the guy carried the ball or we got him in the post and threw it away. The greatest thing today is when the popcorn is popping and the lights are turned on and the people are screaming, they start playing a little different. I got to see that as a coach. When everything is rolling, who are we going to?"

Here's what he had to say about shooting...

"Could have been more than 70-percent today. Again, the offense only got to the drives probably about six times. We were running it now. We went to some post ups because we were so much bigger and we wanted to throw it inside but I didn't want to go totally to it. When you look at this, Darnell [Dodson] took a lot of shots and he made some good plays. Patrick [Patterson] needs to take more shots, we have to get him more active and more involved. What happened to him was the small guy, when Pat got the ball, just mauled him. So now he's bounced it off his leg. He wasn't able to just catch it and go by. Part of that is in practice so I may just put a smaller guy on him in practice to make him better with the ball because he's been great. He played good today, just not great I don't think."

Kentucky Football Team Has Caught The Flu Bug

Rich Brooks announced today that UK has been hit by the flu bug. Micah Johnson, Christian Johnson, Ridge Wilson and Alfonso Smith were all sent home from practice with flu-like symptoms. No word as to if these guys will be available for Saturday's game vs Eastern Kentucky.

A question everyone has for Coach Brooks and the coaching staff as to why Randall Cobb was not at QB when the game was on the line last weekend vs Mississippi State. They leave in true freshman Morgan Newton who is obviously nervous and green in these situations. Cobb proves that he can manage the game in any situation. UK wants Randall to be the most dynamic player in the SEC but it's kind of hard for him to do that when the coaches don't allow him to come in and when these close games. I would have liked to have seen Will Fidler play Saturday but Newton played a solid game Saturday for the lack of experience he has.

Ok, se we've seen the schedule, and most of you probably thought this will be a good year for the new coach John Calipari, and the team. But how do think this year will shape out overall? What I'm thinking is there might be an early loss, due to the fact this team is young and still getting used to the dribble drive offense John Calipari has, but I think towards the end of the year this team will come together and really be dominate force. I think we could really make it to the elite 8 or more this year. Yes, this year Kentucky has the bench and the talent, but it's a young talent. Next year, assuming that at all the freshman recruits from this year stay on, we could really be a powerhouse and be a possible team for the championship. It really is amazing how just six months ago, we went from an NIT team to the #4 team in the nation.

"Lazy" DeMarcus Cousins Working On Bad Habits

Kentucky Freshman, DeMarcus Cousins, has been a little lazy coming in from high school, and he's now trying to break those habits.

"Let's be honest, coming out of high school we didn't really have to play defense. We just scored and won the game," Cousins said. "So you have a lot of bad habits coming out of high school and I'm just trying to break those -- being lazy, not bending over, not being ready to play. Just simple bad habits that most freshmen come in with."

Before the Blue-White Scrimmage game on Wednesday, John Calipari had practice of ONLY defense.

"Intense," Cousins said about it. "We get after it."

"You have to take team pride in defense where everybody is taking pride, not just three or four guys," Calipari said. "You have to have great enjoyment out of playing defense. You just love it. You love getting down in the stance and locking people up. And No. 3, you have to have discipline. You have to stay in the stance and play the entire possession because the minute one guy quits playing you get beat."
