Update on Josh Selby and Kyrie Irving

Josh Selby according to Kevin Brockway of The Gainesville Sun is headed to Kentucky. Kyrie Irving's Dad wants his son to go to Kentucky to be with his godfather, UK assistant coach and former NBA player Rod Strickland. Irving was rumored to possibly be commiting to Duke soon but is now probably going to make his decision in November. UK is also in the running for another PG Brandon Knight as well as Josh Selby and it appears that Irving falls behind them on UK's list but we UK fans would love to have Kyrie Irving in Wildcat Blue.

Kentucky Football Gets A New Commitment.

3-star prospect Tyler Robinson has commited to the Cats to add on to the 2010 recruiting class. Robinson is a TE/DE. Tyler is 6'4 and weighs 250 lbs. He is from Alocoa, TN and attends Alcoa High School just like Randall Cobb and Kyrus Lanxter. Robinson also possesses a lot of similar traits of Randall Cobb's. If he can be just like those two guys, UK will be fine next year. UK has established a recruiting pipeline from Lexington, Kentucky to Alcoa, Tennessee. Maybe the blind Tennessee Volunteers will start to take some notice of the football talent coming out of Alcoa and UK plucks another one straight out of the Volunteer State. Here's what ESPN has to say of Tyler:

Robinson is a prospect who can offer a program some versatility. He plays both tight end and defensive end in high school and could be recruited for either at the college level. He has solid size for both positions. You wish he was a tad taller, but we still feel tight end may be a slightly better fit at the college level for him. On defense, he is a kid that carries good bulk and could be a tough run defender. He gets off the ball well and displays the ability to play in a football position with his power angles bent. He displays the ability to generate good power when taking on a blocker. He can be tough to block when he shoots his hands and creates separation, but he does need to be more consistent with his hands. Does a solid job of coming across the line, breaking down, locating the ball and reacting. He is a solid tackler. Displays good speed, though not a player that will likely run many plays down from behind. If a program has a need, Robinson could surely fill a hole as a defensive prospect, but the best fit might be on offense. He displays the tools to be a pretty solid well-rounded tight end. His best asset may be as a blocker. He is a good sized kid, who displays a tenacious attitude as a blocker. He does a good job of getting hands on and moving his feet. He can stay with and finish a block. You would like to see him close the distance more at times and get his hips under him. He needs to clean up his technique, but his physical style allows him to get the job done at the high school level. Does a good job of working up to the second level. As a receiver, he is not a kid that will likely stretch the field or run away from defenders, but he does seem to quickly hit his top speed. He has solid hands and displays the ability to use his big body to shield defenders. Robinson comes across as a blue collar, get-it-done type player.

Terrence Jones Cuts List Down To 7, UK Makes The Cut

His seven college choices are Arizona, Kansas, Kentucky, Oklahoma, Oregon, UCLA, and Washington. Jones, who held an in-home visit with Kentucky on the 22nd was pleased with what the coaching staff had to say to him. UK is in the running for two other players similar to Jones; Tobias Harris and CJ Leslie.

Kentucky Takes A Beating From Florida 41-7 FINAL

Kentucky gets murdered by the Florida Gators once again. They have now lost 23 consecutive games to the Gators. To start all of the scoring off, with 11:13 to go in the 1st Qtr, Caleb Sturgis of Florida hit a 22-yard field goal for a 3-0 UF lead. Tim Tebow rushed for a 3-yard TD with 7:11 to go in the 1st and the PAT by Sturgis was good. 7-0 Florida. Chris Rainey recovered a blocked punt for a TD with 6:14 of the 1st Qtr left and Sturgis field goal was good. 17-0 Gators lead. With 2:15 to go in the 1st Qtr, Tebow rushed for another TD for 2-yards and the PAT was good for Sturgis for a 24-0 Gators lead. Right before the end of the first Qtr, Tebow threw a 44-yard TD pass to Aaron Hernandez. PAT was good for Sturgis. Florida leads 31-0 after a monstrous 1st Qtr. UK's only points would come when Mike Hartline threw a 2-yard TD pass to Ross Bogue and the PAT was good for Lones Seiber. Florida leads 31-7. Tim Tebow would have to leave the game during the third Qtr and be taken to the hospital after a hard sack. With 3:45 to go in the 3rd Qtr, Sturgis would again connect for a 32-yard field goal to increase Florida's lead 34-7. The final scoring would take place with 6:39 to go in the ball game when John Brantley and Riley Cooper hooked up for an 8-yard pass. The PAT was good for Caleb Sturgis and Florida wins 41-7.

Calipari Tells High School Coaches This Is Patrick Patterson's Final Season

Coach Cal has apparently informed some high school basketball coaches that this will be Patrick Patterson's final season this year meaning he has chose to forgo his senior season. Though their is no official word or announcement of this, it's not something we were looking forward to hearing about. Patterson is set to graduate and receive his degree after his Junior year of college. Staying for his senior year would force him to add the extra weight of finding another area to major in. Calipari is striving to teach Patterson how to play like a guard and work on Patterson's perimeter game because at 6'9, Patrick will have to be a scorer in the NBA and will be undersized in the low post of the NBA. Coach Cal wants Patterson to spread his game out on the floor and then move inside the low post to score when the game is on the line.

Florida Gators vs Kentucky Wildcats Game 3 Preview

The Kentucky Wildcats are set to take on the #1 Florida Gators today at Commonwealth Stadium. The game will start at 6:00 PM and will be showed on ESPN2 or online at espn360.com. This will be the first SEC game this year for the Cats and the second for the Gators. The Gators team comes into Lexington with the flu so maybe UK's physical defense can rough up the Gators and possibly pull an LSU on the Gators and beat another #1 team in the nation. Not a likely scenario however, but you never can tell what will happen in College Football. Just hope that the Cats don't lose by 58 like last year to Florida.

Stacey Poole Announces Commitment Live On ESPNU Video

Stacey Poole COMMITS To Kentucky!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The wait is over! Stacey Poole commits to UK live on the ESPNU Recruiting Insider show. It's UK's first commitment of the 2010 class. Poole is a 4-star small forward that has the skills of a shooting guard. His game will thrive even more in the dribble-drive offense Calipari's teams play. He plays high school basketball for Andrew Jackson High School in Jacksonville, Florida. He plays AAU ball for Team Florida. Hopefully he brings along Brandon Knight with him who visted Kentucky last weekend with Poole and both attended the UK-UL football game.

Knight Likes What He Sees At UK

Brandon Knight made his first Offical visit with Kentucky.

"Kentucky was his first official visit," said the player's mother, Turgenia Knight. "Of course, I had been there previously, but this was the first time Brandon and his dad got to see things. They really liked the campus. We had a wonderful time."

While at the campus, Knight talked with his host, John Wall.

"I'm sure he could relate," Mrs. Knight said of Wall's discussions with her son. "I think they had some private conversations about what it's like."

"Overall, I'd say it was very good," Mrs. Knight said of the official visit. "He enjoyed talking to Coach Calipari again about how he'd be utilized there. Coach Calipari was very straight-forward. Brandon likes that. He also told him that nothing is ever guaranteed and that Brandon would have to come in working hard and ready to compete."

"The main thing was being able to meet with all of the coaches in our home and make the visits," she said. "After that, it could be any time. It could be after one visit. It could be after two. Or it might be in the spring. I don't think Brandon ever decided 'This is definitely what I'm going to do.' Whenever it feels right to him, I think he'll decide."

Brandon Knight, and his family are now supposed to make a visit with Connecticut on Friday. Kansas is in the running, but there not sure as of now.

UK talking Josh Selby

John Calipari made an in-home visit with one of the nation's elite guards, Josh Selby. The Lake Clifton Point Guard from Baltiomore (Md.) de-commited from Tennessee this Summer, and is now looking for a new school. The 183 pound 6'2" Selby, is rated the No. 4 prospect in the Class of 2010.

"Things are going very well," said the player's mother, Maeshon Witherspoon. "They are a great group of guys with a success rate with players at Josh's position. That's what kind of separates them at the present time."

Selby has also been drawing recent interest from Indiana, Syracuse, Baylor, UConn, Florida State, Miami, Kansas, Texas and Oregon.

Former Kentucky Basketball Player Derrick Miller Wanted In Elizabethtown, KY.

Derrick Miller is wanted by Elizabethtown Police and two warrants are out for his arrest. Two people in E'town have contacted police about not receiving their UK basketball tickets promised to them for money by Miller. His two warrants are for two counts of felony theft by deception. E'town police were first notified and started to investigate the ticket scams several months ago. Both Miller and former UK basketball player Eric Davender were arrested last month for ticket scams facing similar charges. Miller played from 1986-1990 at Kentucky and ranks 42nd all-time on UK's scoring list and Davender ranks 11th playing from 1984-1988.

Landon Slone Wants To Re-Join The UK Basketball Team

Landon Slone has interest again in someday playing for the Cats someday. Slone, who earlier this year transferred to Morehead State re-enrolled at UK after three days of classes this fall semester. He was "cut" from the basketball team earlier by Calipari and did not get a chance to meet with Coach Cal. It's one of the few things people have criticized about Calipari for not meeting with Slone before cutting him. Calipari replied not knowing that Slone wanted to meet with him, so Landon hopes to get a chance to talk with him soon. Landon Slone says he doesn't expect to get to be back on the team this year because of how far the Cats are to this point but he would like to join on next year if possible. Eligibility would be unaffected if he were to transfer within the first ten days of class, so since he's back at Kentucky, he could get to play this year. Here's what Landon Slone had to say.

"I can't say I'll ever be able to play for Kentucky again," "I'd love to. No matter what it took." "I don't know if I was comparing it to Kentucky," he said about Morehead State. "I couldn't see myself being comfortable there. I couldn't see myself fitting in. ... I just didn't feel right. I felt Kentucky was my home." "I don't know if I lost a bit of my love to play, it hurt my want-to." "I have a certain love for Kentucky (basketball). It's hard when you love it as much as I do." "I don't expect to play this year. They're into it, and they're into it pretty far." "If I could play next year and finish my career up (at UK), it would be a great thing."

Former Wildcat Keith Bogans Signs With The Spurs

Keith Bogans inked a one-year guaranteed deal today with the San Antonio Spurs. Stacey Poole will be making his decision Thursday at 5:30 on ESPNU. Could he already be a Wildcat?
